This is the new Bosch high-pressure fuel rail for the 5.9L Cummins common-rail engine in 2003 through 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. One rail covers every common-rail 5.9L year, both the early 2003-2004 engines and the later 2004.5-2007 engines. It replaces Cummins 4929618 and 3957077 and Mopar 5086869AA and 5086869AB. Bosch made the original rail, and the Cummins number 4929618 is printed on the label next to the Bosch number.

The rail comes with a new rail pressure sensor and a new pressure relief valve already installed, so it goes on as a complete assembly. Shops replace it when the relief valve bleeds fuel back to the tank and the engine cannot hold rail pressure, or after a pump or injector failure has put metal or dirt through the high-pressure side. A used rail can hold debris that ends up in new injectors.

Keep every port capped until the lines go on and keep dirt out of the system. The sensor and relief valve are already fitted, so nothing needs to be moved over from the old rail. Use new sealing washers on the relief valve return fitting. If the rail is being replaced after a pump or injector failure, clean or replace the rest of the high-pressure side at the same time so debris does not reach the new parts.
