Call the bench: 530-668-0818

Shop: 1243 E Beamer St, Suite C, Woodland, CA 95776 (150 miles south of Redding, straight down I-5)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Pacific time.

Let us start with the number nobody likes: we are two and a half hours from Redding. We are also the nearest shop in any direction with calibrated injection test stands, which is why pumps and injectors from Shasta County have been finding their way to this bench for years. We take calls from Palo Cedro, from McArthur, from ranches up the Intermountain country, and almost none of those customers ever stand in our lobby. The parts make the trip. The people do not have to.

Two and a Half Hours Is Too Far to Guess

Diesel injection work is a bench trade. A rebuilt pump is only rebuilt once it has run on a calibrated test stand across its full speed and load range and held the factory spec sheet, cylinder by cylinder. Injectors are the same story at smaller scale: pop-off pressure, spray pattern, delivery, and for common rail, testing at real rail pressure (this is what that looks like). No general shop between Sacramento and the Oregon line owns that equipment, and that is not a knock on North State mechanics. The stands are rare, expensive machines. Ours have been earning their keep since 1993 on a Bosch-certified floor.

The practical consequence: before anyone in Shasta County spends four figures on a replacement pump or a set of injectors, the smart move is to put the old ones on a stand and find out what is actually wrong. Distance does not prevent that. A box does it.

How the Mail-In Bench Works

  1. Call first: 530-668-0818. Tell us the engine, the symptoms and what has been replaced already. We will tell you honestly whether bench work is the right next step.
  2. Pull the parts. You or your local mechanic removes the pump or injectors. Cap every fitting and opening. Contamination is the enemy of this whole trade.
  3. Ship to Woodland through our mail-in rebuild service, UPS or FedEx, well padded.
  4. We test as received and call you with measured results before any teardown. If the part was healthy, you will hear that too, because a fault found somewhere else is cheaper than a rebuild you did not need.
  5. Rebuild, calibrate, return. Approved work gets rebuilt, run on the stand to factory spec, documented and shipped back ready to install.

Rebuilds carry our warranty: 12 months, unlimited mileage, plus 30 days on electrical and electronic components. Turnaround depends on the bench schedule and parts availability for your unit, and we will quote it straight when you call.

On the freight math: ground service between the Redding area and Woodland usually runs about a day each way, so shipping adds far less time than most people expect. Pack the unit so it cannot shift, double-box anything heavy, and write your phone number inside the box as well as on the label. Winter storms that close the passes do not close a shipping lane down the valley floor, which is one more reason the box beats the windshield time from October on.

What the North State Actually Sends Us

Logging and forestry equipment

Skidders, yarders, loaders and chippers working Shasta, Trinity and Tehama timber run big mechanical injection systems that were built to be rebuilt. We handle CAT 3208 and CAT 3304 and 3306 pumps, inline pumps from Bosch, Denso and Zexel, and mechanical injectors of any size. A machine down in the woods earns money for nobody, which is why the incoming test matters: it points repair dollars at the actual fault the first time.

I-5 trucks and fleets

The corridor through Redding and Anderson moves a steady population of Class 8 iron, and the owner-operators and small fleets based along it send us pump and injector work rather than routing it to Portland or the Bay Area. Wholesale accounts are how most of that runs; ask about one.

Diesel motorhomes

The far north is RV country, and a diesel pusher parked most of the year is hard on its fuel system. Fuel ages, seals dry, injectors gum. If the coach smokes on startup or hunts at idle after a winter under cover, have the injectors bench-tested before the summer trip, not during it.

Ranch, fire and off-grid equipment

The far north also runs diesel where the grid does not reach: standby generators on ranch wells, water tenders and dozers that sit most of the year and then work two straight weeks in fire season. Sitting is the hard duty cycle for an injection system, so if a standby engine has to be trusted in August, have its injectors tested in the spring.

And Cummins, Duramax and Power Stroke trucks are the daily infrastructure of Shasta County. The classic North State case is the 5.9L 24-valve Ram and its VP44 pump failure; we also see plenty of 6.7L Cummins injector problems and LB7 Duramax injector jobs. For pumps we rebuild constantly, start with the Bosch P7100, the Bosch VE and the Stanadyne DB2, or browse the full rebuild catalog.

Down machine, no time to wait? Ask about the exchange program. When a calibrated unit off the shelf fits your engine, it ships north the same day the freight leaves, and your core comes back to us afterward.

If You Would Rather Drive

Some jobs deserve a conversation across the counter, and I-5 makes this the simplest long drive in California. From Redding, head south through Red Bluff, Corning and Willows to the Woodland exits: about 150 miles, two and a half hours. From Anderson, call it two hours twenty. From Red Bluff, about an hour forty-five. Phone ahead and we will have parts researched and the paperwork ready, so the trip buys you something.

For North State Shops

If you run a repair shop between Red Bluff and the Oregon border, injection is the work you can subcontract without losing the customer. You pull and reinstall, we test, rebuild and calibrate, and the invoice runs through you at wholesale. Several shops in the Redding area already work this way with us. Set up a shop account and turbochargers can ride along too; turbo service is the other half of the building.
