This is the Bosch 0986435406, a piezo common-rail fuel injector remanufactured by Bosch for the Mercedes-Benz OM642 3.0L V6 diesel in 2010 to 2022 Sprinter vans, both Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner badged. It replaces Mercedes-Benz A6420701287, and it is Bosch’s remanufactured version of the new injector 0445116027. A refundable core applies.

Carbon packed around an injector usually means the copper seal under it has been leaking, so check the seats before you blame the injectors. This is the 2010 and newer injector. The 2007 to 2009 Sprinter 3.0L takes Bosch 0986435398, Mercedes-Benz 6420701587, and catalogs list each one for its own years only. The engine takes six injectors.

Each injector is marked with a classification code. Write down the code for each cylinder and enter it in the engine computer with a scan tool when the injectors are fitted. The hold-down bolts on this engine are one-time-use stretch bolts, so fit a new bolt and a new copper seal with every injector. Clean the injector seat before the new seal goes in. A reused bolt or a poor seal lets combustion gas and carbon build up around the injector. Change the fuel filter and clear any dirty or watered fuel before start-up.
