This is the Garrett 702012-5012S, a new GTP38 turbocharger made by Garrett, the original turbo maker for the 7.3L Power Stroke. It fits the 1999.5 to 2003 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke in Super Duty trucks and the Excursion, and comes as an assembly with the turbo pedestal and the exhaust back pressure valve (EBPV). It replaces Navistar 1831383C92, 1831383C93, 1831383C94, 1831450C94 and 1831457C91, Ford F81Z-6K682-BARM, and the older Garrett numbers 702012-0012 and 706447-5003.

Most of these come off for shaft play, oil leaking at the pedestal, low boost, or an EBPV that sticks or leaks oil from the pedestal actuator. Because the pedestal and EBPV come with this assembly, it also takes care of a leaking pedestal in one job.

Fit new O-rings between the pedestal and the block, check the up-pipes and their joints for exhaust leaks, and clean the intercooler and boots of oil before the first start. Change the engine oil and filter.
