It is the high pressure stage, the smaller of the two turbos, on the twin-turbo Caterpillar C15 ACERT 15.2L, and it is a wastegated turbo. It is a complete new Garrett turbo, not a rebuild. It replaces Cat 10R-2407, 10R-1887, 229-8828, 229-8829, 233-1589, 233-1592, 233-1596, 251-4818, 251-4819 and 251-4820, and Garrett tags 741154-0004, -0005, -0006, -0009, -0010 and -0011.

The C15 ACERT runs two turbos in series, and they are different parts. This listing is the high pressure turbo only. The low pressure turbo is the larger GTA5518B, Cat 10R-1888, which we list as the remanufactured Alliant Power AP90033. When one stage fails it often sends oil or debris into the other, so inspect both. Heavy truck turbos are matched by the number on the turbo tag, not by engine model alone. For the single-turbo 3406E and C15 we list the BorgWarner 177148 and the Garrett 704604-5011S, which replace a different set of Cat numbers.

Check the low pressure turbo, the charge air cooler and the pipe between the two turbos for oil and metal before you fit this one. Check the oil feed and drain lines, change the engine oil and filter, and pre-oil the turbo through the feed port before the first start.
