Bosch 0986435741 is a Bosch remanufactured common-rail injector for the Detroit Diesel DD13 12.8L with the GHG17 emissions build. It takes the place of Detroit injector A4710701387 and the earlier A4710700887 (Detroit kits RA4710701387 and EA4710701387), and it crosses to new Bosch 0445120385 and 0445120386. The DD13 uses Detroit’s amplified common rail system and six of these injectors. It is the 12.8L engine found in many Freightliner and Western Star trucks, but match the injector to the engine build, not the truck.

Common reasons to replace a DD13 injector: rough idle, misfire, hard starting, smoke, or rising fuel use. DD13 injectors changed across emissions builds (EPA07, EPA10, GHG14, GHG17), so the engine serial number decides which one you need. Each injector has a calibration code that has to be programmed into the engine controller after it goes in.

Program the new injector’s calibration code into the engine controller with Detroit DiagnosticLink after install. Bosch lists one injector with O-rings in the box. Detroit’s own injector kit also includes a hold-down bolt and a sealing ring, so have those on hand. Keep the high-pressure system capped and clean during the job. Confirm the engine serial number before ordering, since DD13 injectors changed between emissions builds.
