This is the Alliant Power AP54801, a common-rail fuel injector remanufactured by Alliant Power for the 6.6L Duramax L5D. The L5D is the medium-duty version of the Duramax, used in 2019 to 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD chassis cab trucks and in International CV Series trucks. It replaces GM 12696967 and 12698553, which GM now lists under 12718814, and International 6040630C92. The engine takes eight, and a refundable core applies.

This is not the injector for the L5P in Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD pickups. The L5P injector carries different GM numbers and is a separate part. Rough running, a miss, smoke, hard starting or injector balance faults are the usual reasons to replace one. Each injector also needs an installation kit, AP0131 or AP0132 depending on the cylinder. The kit holds a new high-pressure line, a chamber gasket and a body O-ring. The job also takes return line seal kit AP0133, and EGR gasket kit AP0136 when the number 3 injector comes out.

Installation parts are separate. Each injector takes an installation kit with a new high-pressure line, a chamber gasket and a body O-ring: AP0131 or AP0132, depending on the cylinder. Alliant Power also packs four of these injectors with the lines and seals for one side of the engine as bank kit AP54803.
