This is a new Delphi DP210 rotary fuel injection pump, Delphi 9320A420G. It is Perkins part 2644H024 and Caterpillar part 292-3461. It fits the Perkins 1104C-44T, a 4.4 L four-cylinder turbo diesel, and the Caterpillar 3054C built with this pump. Delphi catalogs list the engine as Perkins Vista 4T (11046).

Perkins used many DP210 pumps on the 1104C family. They look the same, but each one has its own calibration, so the number on the pump plate is what matters. The pump is locked in time at the factory with a locking bolt and spacer, and it must stay locked until it is on the engine. Common reasons to replace it are hard starting, low power, smoke, leaks and wear from water or dirt in the fuel.

The DP210 is locked in time on a Delphi test stand. Never loosen the locking bolt while the pump is off the engine: if the shaft turns, the timing is lost and the pump must be retimed by an authorized Delphi shop. Set No. 1 cylinder to top center on the compression stroke with the camshaft and crankshaft timing pins in. Fit the pump with a new O-ring, clean the shaft and gear, take up the gear backlash and snug the nut. Then loosen the locking bolt, move the spacer so the bolt clears the shaft, retighten the bolt, torque the gear nut to spec and pull the timing pins. Reconnect the pump wiring and prime with clean fuel.
