This is a new, genuine Kubota DEF injector kit, part number 1J517-97640. It is the dosing injector that sprays diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into the exhaust ahead of the SCR catalyst. It is not a fuel injector. It fits the SCR system on Kubota V3800 3.8 liter engines, including the M5-091, M5-111, M6-101 and M6-111 tractors and the SVL95-2s and SVL97-2 compact track loaders. It is Kubota’s current number for this part and replaces 1J508-97644, 1J508-97643, 1J508-97640 and 1J508-19500.
DEF injectors are replaced when the tip clogs with urea crystals, when the injector sticks or leaks, or when the machine logs DEF dosing or SCR efficiency faults. Check the DEF quality, the DEF filter, the pump and the lines first, because poor fluid and a restricted supply set the same codes. Kubota’s own service training includes a DEF injector flow test at 1,500 hours.
