Cummins M11 & ISM 11L HX55 Turbocharger | Holset 4033813H New (Replaces 3590044)
This is the Holset 4033813H, a new HX55 turbocharger made by Holset (Cummins Turbo Technologies) for the Cummins M11 and ISM 11 liter engines. It is a complete turbo, not a rebuild. It replaces Holset 3590044, 3590045, 3536995, 3536996 and 3536149 and Cummins 3800471, 3803938 and 3804503. The Holset remanufactured twin of the same turbo is 4033813HX.
Shaft play you can feel, oil in the charge pipes, a whine or siren under boost, blue smoke and low boost all point at a worn turbo. Before you fit a new one, find out what killed the old one. Check the oil feed and drain lines, the air filter and intake piping, and look for a failed injector or an exhaust leak ahead of the turbine.

Not every ISM takes this HX55. Some were built with a wastegated HX55W (Holset 4033817H, older number 3592778), and other ISM engines carry a variable geometry turbo with an actuator, such as the HE431V. Those are different turbos with their own numbers. Send us the Holset assembly number from your turbo data plate and your engine serial number and CPL, and we will match it before you order. Change the engine oil and oil filter, prime the turbo with clean oil through the feed port before the first start, and use new gaskets on the oil feed, oil drain and exhaust flange. Clean out the charge air cooler and piping if the old turbo passed oil or broke up.
