Most of the pages on this site explain to people in far-off counties how to ship us a pump. This one gets to say something better: if you are in Davis, forget the box. The specialty shop that the rest of Northern California mails parts to is a fifteen-minute drive from your driveway, on the north side of Woodland, and you can hand your injectors across the counter to the people who will test them.

Next Door, and Nothing Comparable for an Hour in Any Other Direction

Diesel injection is a calibration trade. The machines that matter here are test stands: an injector gets measured for delivery and spray, a pump runs across its full speed and load range against the factory spec sheet, and common rail parts are tested at real rail pressure. Very few shops anywhere own that equipment. One of them happens to share Yolo County with you, on a Bosch-certified floor that has been running since 1993.

For Davis that mostly means logistics stop being a factor. No freight, no packing peanuts, no waiting on a tracking number. Call, drive up, drop off. When the work is done you collect it on the way home.

It also means the conversation is better. A pump tells part of its story on the stand and the rest through the person who runs the machine. Standing at the counter, you can describe the miss, hear what the incoming test found, and decide on the spot whether to rebuild, exchange or walk away with a cheaper answer. That back-and-forth happens over the phone for customers three counties out; from Davis it happens face to face.

Who We See From Davis

Yolo County farm equipment

The ground around Davis, out through Winters, Esparto and the Capay Valley, still works with tractors whose injection pumps predate their operators. We rebuild the Stanadyne DB2, the Bosch VE, the Delphi CAV DPA and the inline pumps on bigger harvest machines; the full story is on our tractor injection pump rebuild page. We are also an authorized Kubota and Yanmar dealer, which covers the compact diesels that do the mowing, trenching and orchard work across the county, with genuine parts on the shelf one town away.

Commuter and tow-rig diesels

Davis has a quieter diesel population: the Causeway commuter with a 6.7L Cummins in the driveway, the family that tows a trailer to Tahoe behind a Duramax, the contractor’s Power Stroke. Modern common rail systems are precise and unforgiving, and the difference between “runs a little rough” and a four-figure repair is usually caught on a test bench early. We handle VP44 failures on the older 5.9L Rams, 6.7L Cummins injector issues, LB7 Duramax injector replacement and everything Cummins under one roof: Cummins diesel injection repair.

The university’s orbit

Ag-school country generates its own diesel: research farm tractors, facilities and grounds equipment, lab gensets, the odd student-restored pickup. When a machine in that orbit needs injection work, it is a short hop up County Road 102 rather than a purchase order to a shop three counties away.

Fleets and work vans

Landscapers, delivery routes and municipal crews around Davis run diesel that cannot sit in a bay for a week waiting on a diagnosis. Proximity is the fix: a fleet manager can have injectors out of a down vehicle in the morning, numbers from our bench the same week, and a rebuilt set back in service without a freight leg on either end. For anything Cummins-powered in the fleet, the drill is the same and the shop is the same distance away.

Drop-Off Beats Freight

Bring the parts, not the whole vehicle, unless we have agreed otherwise on the phone. What makes a drop-off go smoothly:

  • The pump or injectors, capped. Plastic caps on every fitting and port. Cleanliness decides half the outcome in this trade.
  • The tag data. Make, model and engine, plus the numbers stamped on the pump tag if you can read them.
  • The story. When it acts up, what it does, what has already been replaced. Two minutes of history steers the whole test plan.

Every rebuild is calibrated to factory spec before it leaves and covered by our warranty: 12 months, unlimited mileage, with 30 days on electrical and electronic components. Turnaround depends on the week’s bench load and on parts for your specific unit; because you are close, the call-when-ready loop is as short as it gets. And if you would still rather ship, the mail-in service works from Davis like it works from anywhere.

Before you order injectors online: put yours on a bench first. Testing costs a fraction of a set of parts, and about as often as not it points somewhere cheaper. Start with common rail injector testing or mechanical injector testing.

Getting Here From Davis

The back way: County Road 102 north out of Davis; it becomes East Street in Woodland. Left on Beamer Street. About 8 miles, 10 to 15 minutes.

The highway way: CA-113 North to Woodland, exit at Main Street and follow it east to Beamer. A couple of minutes slower, zero stoplights on the way up.

From Dixon: I-80 East to CA-113 North, about 20 minutes. From Winters, CA-128 to CA-113 North, about 25 minutes.

We are on the industrial stretch of East Beamer Street, north side of Woodland. If you are hauling a machine rather than carrying a part, call before you leave and we will tell you where to put the trailer when you get here.
