A miss at idle, white or gray smoke, a fuel knock, hard starting or fuel in the oil can all come from a worn nozzle or a low opening pressure. Fit a new sealing washer under each nozzle, keep the bore clean and torque the hold-down to the engine maker’s figure. On the 24-valve head, fuel reaches the injector through a connector tube in the side of the head: check each tube tip and its o-ring, and replace any that are marked or leaking. The tube is a separate part, Bosch F00ZR20002 (Cummins 3944833, Mopar 5013856AA), one per cylinder. Change the fuel filter at the same time.
