It replaces GM 97729095 and the earlier GM numbers 97720661, 97720604 and 97208074, and the Bosch remanufactured version of the same injector is 0986435502. The engine takes eight.

The LB7 is known for injector trouble. Fuel in the engine oil, white smoke at idle, hard starting and balance rates out of range are the usual signs. The injectors sit under the valve covers, so the job also needs valve cover gaskets, chamber gaskets and return line seals, and it makes sense to do all eight in one visit. 2004 was a changeover year: trucks with VIN code 2 have the LLY and take a different injector, Bosch 0445120027.
