This is the Garrett 743250-9025S, a GT3782VA turbocharger remanufactured by Garrett, the original maker, for the late Ford 6.0L Power Stroke. It covers a build date of 11/4/2004 and later, engine serial numbers 6344943 and up: the 2005.5 to 2007 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty and the E-350 and E-450 vans through 2010. It is the variable-vane (AVNT) unit with nine moving vanes and hydraulic vane control, and it comes with the VGT solenoid. On the 6.0L the usual reasons for a turbo change are sticking vanes from soot and rust in the unison ring, surging or a flutter at steady throttle, low boost, slow spool and worn shaft bearings with oil in the intake. Check the VGT solenoid, the EGR system and the exhaust back pressure sensor first, since they cause the same complaints. Garrett lists the 6.0L replacement turbo by build date. Find out why the old turbo failed before you fit this one. Change the engine oil and filter, make sure the oil feed and drain tubes are clean and clear, and prime the turbo with clean oil before the first start. Check the EGR valve and cooler and the exhaust back pressure sensor and its tube, since soot and coolant in the exhaust are what stick the vanes.
