This is the Garrett 901994-5001S, a new GT17V variable-geometry turbocharger, not a rebuild. It is the stock replacement for the 2016 to 2018 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon with the 2.8L four-cylinder Duramax diesel. The electronic actuator is fitted to the turbo. It replaces GM 55486935, 55486936, 55506039, 55506040, 55510314, 55598230 and 12641882 and Garrett 814068-5005S.
Low boost, a boost or actuator code, a whine that was not there before, or oil in the charge pipes are the usual reasons this turbo is replaced. The actuator comes on the unit, so there is nothing to swap over from the old turbo. Catalogs agree on 2016 to 2018 and do not agree on 2019 and later trucks, so check a later truck with us before you order.

Find out why the old turbo failed before the new one goes on. Check the oil feed and drain, change the engine oil and filter, clean the charge pipes and intercooler of oil, and prime the turbo with clean oil before first start. Fit new mounting gaskets.
