This is a new, genuine Kubota 1A021-60017 engine stop solenoid. It is the 12 V stop solenoid for Kubota 03 series diesels: D1503, D1703, D1803, V2003, V2203 and V2403. Kubota parts catalogs list it on a long run of L-series tractors from the L2501 to the L5740, on M5140, M5640SU and M59 tractors, MX4700 and MX5100 tractors, KX91-3, KX121-3, KX161-3, U35 and U45 excavators, and R420S and R520S wheel loaders. It replaces 1A021-60013, 1A021-60014, 1A021-60015 and 1A021-60016.

It has two coils: a pull-in coil that pulls the plunger in to let the engine start, and a hold coil that keeps it in while the engine runs. A failing solenoid usually shows up as an engine that cranks but will not start, starts and then dies, or will not shut off. Check the fuse, the wiring and the connector, and make sure the stop lever moves freely, before you replace it.

Kubota’s 03-M series workshop manual bench-tests this style of stop solenoid with the pull-in coil (P terminal) and hold coil (H terminal) switched separately and the solenoid body grounded. It warns never to power the pull-in coil for more than 2 seconds. If the old solenoid burned out, check the key switch and the pull-in circuit before you install the new one. Fit it so the plunger lines up with the stop lever.
