This is a new, genuine Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure common-rail fuel pump, Bosch 0445020609. Cummins sells the same pump as 5302736 and 5529762. It fits Cummins QSB4.5 and QSB6.7 Tier 4 industrial engines, the 2013-2014 and newer engines used in off-highway equipment. The CP4.2 has two pumping pistons on a two-lobe cam and builds rail pressure for the common-rail injectors.

The CP4 is lubricated only by the fuel that runs through it. Water, air on the supply side, dirty fuel and missed filter changes wear the cam and roller, and a failing pump can shed metal into the whole high-pressure system. Hard starting, low rail pressure codes and loss of power are common signs. If the old pump made metal, the rail, lines and injectors carry that debris, so plan on a full fuel-system cleanup, not just a pump swap.

The CP4.2 is lubricated only by diesel fuel. Find the cause of the old pump failure before you install this one. If there is metal in the filters, treat it as a full fuel-system job: the rail, lines and injectors carry the debris. Replace the fuel filters, check supply-side pressure and volume, look for air leaks, and prime per the Cummins procedure. Keep water out of the fuel. Check whether your drive gear and bracket need to move to the new pump.
