This is a new Delphi DP210 rotary fuel injection pump, Delphi 9320A300W. The Cummins part number is 3957698. It is a mechanical distributor pump for the Cummins 4.5 L four-cylinder engine, listed in catalogs as the B4.5. Machines that use it include the Lull 644E and SkyTrak 6036, 6042 and 8042 telehandlers and the Mustang 2109 skid steer, when built with this Cummins engine and pump.

People replace this pump for hard starting, low power, heavy smoke, leaks or wear from water and dirt in the fuel. The DP210 is timed and locked at the factory on a Delphi test stand. Its drive shaft runs without a key, so the lock must stay in place until the pump is on the engine. Cummins used several DP210 pumps on its 4.5 L engines. They look alike but are calibrated differently, so match the number before you order.

The DP210 is timed and locked on a Delphi test stand, and the shaft has no key. Do not release the lock until the pump is bolted to the engine. On Cummins front gear train engines, bar the engine to No. 1 top dead center until the timing pin engages the camshaft gear, clean and dry the shaft taper and gear bore, fit the gear and snug the nut, then unlock the pump and the engine and torque the gear nut to the Cummins spec. If the pump comes unlocked off the engine, it has to go back to a Delphi DP210 shop to be retimed. Use clean fuel and fresh filters.
