The high-pressure oil rail has to come off to change a G2.9 injector. The injector inlet seals sit on the oil rail and must be replaced before the rail goes back on. Alliant Power kit AP0025 has those seals and backup rings, and it is not in the box with the injector. These injectors are fired by engine oil, so fresh oil and a new oil filter are good practice.
