It is the low-pressure pump that feeds the CP4 high-pressure pump, and it replaces Ford BC3Z-9G282-E and Motorcraft PFB-103. It is a new part, not a rebuild, and no core is needed.

A weak transfer pump shows up as a long crank, a low fuel pressure message, loss of power under load or a stall. The CP4 pump on this engine depends on steady supply pressure for its own lubrication, so check supply pressure and change both fuel filters before you blame the high-pressure side. If the old pump failed with metal in the fuel, the whole system needs to be checked for contamination first.
