Catalogs list it for Case IH Magnum 7220, 7230, 7240, 8910, 8920, 8930, 8940 and MX180 tractors, 2166 and 2366 Axial-Flow combines, Steiger 9310 and 9330 tractors, Case 721B, 721C, 821B and 821C wheel loaders and the Case 9040B excavator. It is a mechanical injector for the pump, line and nozzle engine, not for the later common-rail ISC or QSC.

Worn mechanical injectors on the 8.3L show up as hard starting, a rough idle, black smoke under load, fuel knock or fuel in the oil, and a pop test shows a low opening pressure or a poor spray pattern. Check the lift pump, filters and pump timing first. Replace all six together so the cylinders stay even, and never mix opening pressures in one engine. This injector opens at 260 to 274 bar, about 3,900 psi.
