Kubota D1105 Engine Guide: Fitment, Specs & Repower
10/20/2026The VP44 is a Bosch distributor injection pump, and the fastest way to order the right VP44 injection pump is to read the tag on the one you have. Year, engine and transmission belong on the order, but the numbers on the pump are what the parts lookup starts from. This page covers how to read the tag and what to have ready when you call. If you are still working out whether the pump is the problem, start with our VP44 injection pump failure guide for the 5.9 Cummins.
Bosch lists the VP44 with its distributor injection pumps in its diesel pumps and injectors brochure (printed p. 11).
Find and photograph the installed pump tag
Cummins places the VP44 dataplate on the side of the pump, as shown in its pump identification section (Cummins CFP11E manual, printed p. 2-12). Before anything comes off the engine, get clear pictures:

- The whole tag, with both part number fields and every suffix readable.
- An unedited original photo. Do not crop out characters or sharpen the image.
- The pump in place on the engine, with the connector visible.
Do not dismantle anything to get the shot. A readable tag photo and a context photo are what the parts counter needs.
What the fields on the tag mean
The Cummins identification record lists several separate fields. Not all of them are replacement part numbers.

Sources: the field list is from the Cummins CFP11E identification section. The timing key point is from the Cummins CFP6E manual (printed p. 7-104), which states that the key’s identity is assigned to the individual pump at manufacture.
Which number is the ordering number?
Keep both the Cummins and the Bosch part numbers. Those two fields are what a parts specialist checks against the application record to find the current orderable replacement. The serial, date code or key code on its own does not do that job.
Component numbers are not pump numbers
Bosch’s brochure (printed p. 13) lists “PSG5” control units and “DMV10/DMV11” pressure solenoid parts for distributor pumps. Those are component numbers. They are not a lookup for a complete pump.
Build the ordering record
The tag tells us which pump is on the engine. The rest of the record tells us what it is on. Write down:
- Engine identification.
- Vehicle or machine identity, with VIN or machine serial.
- Transmission, when it applies.
- Known engine swaps, earlier pump changes, tuning and fuel system modifications. If the history is unknown, write “unknown.”
Why year or transmission alone does not settle it
Truck year and transmission belong on the record, but the pump carries its own identity: serial, two part numbers, key identifier, factory code and date code. A pump may also have been changed before you owned the truck. The tag and the application record make the match together.
Industrial engines and pickups
The Cummins record cited above comes from an industrial fire pump engine manual, and it shows that engine’s own pump identification record. For a machine or industrial engine, give us the engine and machine identity along with the tag. A pickup lookup by year and model is a different record.
The supply pump is its own part
If you are also identifying the separate lift or supply pump, record its own number and photos. It is browsed under Lift & Supply Pumps and is matched on its own record, apart from the VP44.
Compare the VFI VP44 listings
Our VP44 pump group holds every VP44 we list: five Cummins pumps (15X, 16X, 17X, 19X and 20X), four John Deere pumps and one AGCO Sisu pump. They are listed by the Bosch number on the tag, so start with that number:
The last column is our catalog name for each listing. Your Bosch number from the tag decides the pump, not the truck year or the name on our page. Call 530-668-0818 with the tag and we match it before anything ships.
New, exchange and rebuilt: what the words mean
Bosch describes its Bosch eXchange program as covering industrially remanufactured products plus supplementary new parts. So the word “exchange” alone does not tell you the condition of a given item. Bosch describes the remanufacturing process this way:
- Wear parts are replaced as a matter of course.
- The remaining components are checked against tolerances, then reworked or replaced as needed.
- Units go through functional and quality testing.
Bosch’s Diesel Repair Network also offers diagnosis and component testing for electronically controlled distributor pumps.
“Rebuilt” means different things from different sellers. For any pump you are about to buy, ask four things: who supplied it, what condition it is in, what test paperwork comes with it, and what the current core terms are. When you call us about a VFI listing, we answer those for that unit.
Confirm before buying
Call 530-668-0818 with your tag photo and engine details. We match the pump to your record, give you the current replacement number, condition, what is included and the core terms, and confirm the part before it ships.
What to have ready when you call
- ✓A readable, unedited photo of the whole pump tag, both part numbers and all suffixes.
- ✓A photo of the pump in place, with the connector visible.
- ✓Engine identification.
- ✓Vehicle or machine identity: VIN or machine serial, plus transmission when it applies.
- ✓Known swaps, earlier pump changes, tuning or fuel system changes, or “unknown.”
- ✓Whether you also need the separate supply pump identified.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the tag on a VP44?
Cummins locates the VP44 dataplate on the side of the pump. Photograph it in place without taking anything apart.
Which number on the VP44 tag do I order by?
Give both the Cummins part number and the Bosch part number in full. The serial, date code and key identifier are recorded too, but they are not replacement part numbers.
Can I order a VP44 by truck year and transmission?
Year and transmission go on the record, but the match is made from the pump tag and the application record together.
Is an industrial VP44 looked up the same way as a pickup pump?
Read the tag the same way. Then give the engine and machine identity, because a machine is looked up by its own engine and machine record.
Does “exchange” mean the pump is remanufactured?
Not by itself. Bosch eXchange covers remanufactured products and supplementary new parts. Ask for the condition, supplier, test paperwork and core terms of the exact unit.
How do I know the pump fits before it ships?
Call 530-668-0818 with the tag photo and engine details. We confirm the part against your record before it ships.
